VIRUS MAN is a movie about a guy who likes to play around with viruses, so, some kids sabotage one of his experiment with disasterous consequences.

We ran out of money and other resources when we were half done shooting VOODOO CLUB. Its about 3 roommates who offend the local Voodoo Club leader, Wondo.

SNAKE BAIT + HILLBILLY SMACK Short Movies

In 2002 we shot a short movie called SNAKE BAIT, about a guy who answers a strange ad, only to get duped into becoming part of a mutant hillbilly family!

During a break, Timmie went into a tyrade, so they taped it and made it into a 3 minute short called HILLBILLY SMACK. He discusses the barter system and flies!

In 1996, two of my scripts, ATOMIC FRANKENSTEIN and THINGS FROM MARS were almost produced in Hollywood as a double 'retro' feature, but, decided against in the final analysis.

This is the poster for ATOMIC FRANKENSTEIN.

OFFBEAT - LA Cable Access Show 1992-3

I produced a cable access show called OFFBEAT with pals Darrell Draeger, Brian Riedel and Wes Hanson. Eventually, we added Christy Taylor to the line-up. Guests included Tom Ferranti and Andy Rey.

We were the 'Offbeatniks' and flew around in space in 'The Pod,' our spaceship, which was a converted coffee maker model. Christy became Galaxy, the 'Offbeat Girl.'

We taped 10 episodes in Chatsworth, CA where we showed music videos Darrell collected from around the world, then, we would have adventures in between those segments and we used all green screen effects. We did 10 episodes, the first and last were disasters, and so, it was time to move on.

Christy went on to do a few good things including 'The Making of ...And, God Spoke' and 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?' and was working in 2007. She also appeared on the TV series 'Weird Science' and 'Saved By The Bell, The New Class' and has produced for Walt Disney!

At the time, there was a program on cable TV called 'Access America' that starred Fred Willard and showed clips they collected from cable access shows around the country. We submitted some of our stuff and they loved it, and said they wanted to use us regularly!! We thought that was very cool until they informed us that they got cancelled!..

More pieces from 1980, part of a series of large classic covers I did. They are 18' x 24" in size, each piece of the image is a Color-Aid paper cut-out, rendered with colored pencil, then, glued down on board. The ASTOUNDING piece was lost, the EC was traded for a primo '50s Wolverton comic.

Here is the page that was lost by FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND, thus, only published in LOLLAPALOOSA #5. You can see that the title is different, because, I figured out later that a few of the monsters I included in the image were actually from the '60s, and, that's why I changed it! It was shaded with ball point pen.

I collaged a big series of images like these in 1985, then, in 1997 I colored them on my computer. Pretty strange stuff!

WEIRD TALES OF THE FUTURE - 1952 Comic Covers / Collage and Colored Pencil / 1979

These pieces are hanging right here, I created them to inspire me and are probably my finest work. In 1978 I decided to get into comics, and, the reason was because of the image of the top cover with it's big rubber monster by Basil Wolverton. I saw the image in an early Overstreet and I knew what I wanted to do, since I love monsters so much!

This is the comic WEIRD TALES OF THE FUTURE #2. They are 18" x 24" in size, each piece of the image is a cut-out, rendered with colored pencil, then glued down on board. An extremely time consuming procedure so I only did a total of eight pieces.

This one is WEIRD TALES OF THE FUTURE #3, another mind boggling image by Basil. Basil was one of the few comic artists that was able to work from home and mail in the art to the publisher. Also, he was paid extra for layout and lettering!!

I had been doing some simple collage pieces when the WEIRDO Magazine 'ugly art' contest came up in 1985, so, I decided to get more complicated, and, it paid off. Pal Brian Riedel's excellent piece is also in that issue, WEIRDO #15!

Teen-age Mutant is another piece similiar to the WEIRDO one in complexity.

The Devil Robots / Vortex Comics #12 - 1986 / Cover & Story

1986 was a good year for me, and, to top it off, I got to do the cover and two stories for Vortex Comics #12! Hey, and, Brian Riedel also has a story in that issue!

Here's the color cover I did for my story THE DEVIL ROBOTS. I submitted the cover later, after they had already accepted the interior story. That ended up being a pretty good idea!

When it comes to comics, guys like me and Brian do everything ourselves... writing, layout, pencil, ink, lettering, coloring, etc., unlike those softies at Marvel and DC!!

Next are some choice panels from the 8 page story, the Vortex interior was printed in b+w. These pages are fairly unique in that I inked outlines and shaded everything in with black colored pencil, plus I used some Zipatone in places. I pasted in the word balloons later. I actually started this project in 1980.

I love these little worker-ant robots! And, they drool fluid!

I'm not showing that they are in one of a hundred other flying saucers from another galaxy, ready to invade Earth for it's energy!.. Each one has it's own giant energy absorber!

In 1999, there was a movie called THE IRON GIANT. There are some striking similiarities between it and my story in a few places. I believe that this comic may have inspired the writing of that movie!

Pen + Ink Collaborations w/ Tompkins & Worden / 1987-8

Here are six pen + ink pieces I collaborated on with pals Roy Tompkins and Dennis Worden. The first five are with Tompkins, he pencilled, sent'em to me from Texas and I inked and kept them. He inked and kept the pencils I sent him. They were based on dumb-ass phrases we separately came up with and we pencilled our own phrases.

This last piece here was done with Worden. We both contributed to half of a Ray Zone 'Zomoid' mini comic in 1988 called THE END! Dennis first inked in his part, the guy reading the paper and his friend, and I added the rest. I like Zipatone!

This full scale 'dead' head was a prop used in our retro psycho comedy, THE CREEP! Some girl back east bought it. Girls bought a lot of my stuff!

This was the make-up concept for a movie that would be called TEENAGE VIRUS-BOY!

I love the Mexican way of doing things!

This is close to the design of the robots in SILVER ANGEL vs THE DEATH ZOMBIES, our second movie. A sci-fi horror comedy!
